Happy new decade, folks! What a crazy 10 years it's been! As we step into 2010, we should look forward to it with exuberance and enthusiasm, excitement, hope, and optimism. It's a brand new year and a brand new decade with exciting possibilities, hopes, and dreams that I can't wait to share with my friends, family, and other loved ones.

Let us all head into 2010 and beyond knowing that the world is not 2 years from freaking destruction.

I can hear the fireworks from Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney's Hollywood Studios (Animal Kingdom doesn't have fireworks at night). It's this strange sort of cacophony of randomly exploding fireworks...not to mention our neighors now emptying their fireworks reserves.

Cheers, everyone, and may the New Year bring us good health, prosperity, and the realization of our hopes and dreams.

So, it's all come down to this. Weeks of training and preparation, tapping of fingers, and one busy travel season all culminate to this coming day, tomorrow, the busiest day of the year. New Year's Eve, we're expecting 49,000 Guests to come through the gates at Disney's Hollywood Studios. And that's just us!

It's too bad I won't be there to see all the Cast Members I've trained or assessed make or break this crucial day. Instead, I'll be at Mermaid/Playhouse from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. It's one of the best possible shifts to get, because I -won't- be there for the insane evening. The park will be open for day guests until 12:00 am, but those taking advantage of the evening Extra Magic Hours (Resort Guests can stay in the park late or get into the park before day Guests get in) will be able to stay at the park until 3:00 am. I do have friends that are working until around 3:30 am, and I do feel for them...at the same time, I feel like I've earned my 4:00pm shift ending from working hard all year...that, and, y'know, seniority and all.

The next day, though, they all get to laugh at me. I'm at Mermaid/Playhouse again, but I have to work from 7:30 am to 7:00 pm. I also get to laugh a bit, though, as I get 3 hours of -double pay.- Any time worked over 8 hours on the day of a holiday is paid double. And that's awesome.

Also, my sinuses chose the worse possible time to congest. Hoping to be better by tomorrow. Nose hurts quite a bit. Blah.
